Here’s a roundup of new and noteworthy routes that have launched service within the past month, some as recent as yesterday. Now it’s even easier and more enticing to get away this winter.
Alaska Airlines: The carrier added its first international destination since 1991! Flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and, not one, but two airports in Costa Rica [San José (SJO) and Liberia/Guanacaste (LIR)] launched this past weekend.
Frontier Airlines: The Denver-based airline recently started running flights between Las Vegas (LAS) and Miami (MIA), a route previously flown only by American Airlines.
jetBlue: On October 1, the airline expanded its Mexico City (MEX) service with routes to Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO).
On November 12, service starts between Baltimore (BWI) and FLL, as well as BWI and MCO. On November 19, an FLL to Philadelphia (PHL) route launches.
Southwest: Southwest continues to expand its route map. The carrier has introduced a cool 16 new routes, both domestic and international, over the past month. They include Houston Hobby (HOU) to Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos (SJD), Cancun (CUN), Belize (BZE), Mexico City (MEX), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Montego Bay (MBJ), LIR and SJO. The other new international routes are BWI-LIR and DEN-PVR.
Within the U.S., Southwest is now running Atlanta (ATL)-Oakland (OAK), Austin (AUS)-Boston (BOS) and Seattle (SEA), as well as Indianapolis (IND)-New York (LGA) and Washington, D.C. (DCA)-MCO.

Turkish Airlines: Turkish Airlines selected Miami (MIA) as U.S. destination No. 8 for daily nonstop service from Istanbul (IST), and service is already up and running.
Virgin America: The airline just launched flights to Hawaii, first with service between San Francisco (SFO) and Honolulu (HNL) that launched on Monday, and next with the addition of nonstop daily flights between SFO and Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG).
Also noteworthy: The Icelandic budget carrier WOW Air is set to win over a lot more fans with its U.S. West Coast expansion when it begins flying from Reykjavik (RKV) to LAX and SFO (date unknown). No word yet on whether WOW will offer its crazy cheap $99 fares for the lengthier route, though.
